Resveratrol Safety and Pregnancy

May 20th, 2009 by Brian Lyssy

I have received this question the most so I felt a post is in order. First off – this is a decision between you and your doctor. I do not give medical advice only opinion. I have to get that out there so you know that pregnancy is very important process for a woman and the decisions you make affect both you and your little one growing inside of you.

Let’s first tackle the question of natural supplements versus synthetic supplements.

Do not underestimate this question as it is crucial you understand the difference. This is not some kind of marketing ploy to get you to purchase more expensive products. This is real and you need to be very concerned about what you are doing to your body.

Shaklee did research into this question by bringing together many different scientist and they conducted a study of people who have taken natural supplements, a multivitamin and people who did not take any supplementation for the past 25 years.

The reason I point to them is that I am unaware of any other natural vitamin company who has done this level of research over this period of time.  The study concluded that natural supplementation was the best way to go. They also found that people who took a generic vitamin had worse biometrics than people who did not take anything at all!

Here is the report http://www.nutritionj.com/content/pdf/1475-2891-6-30.pdf

If you think about it, it kind of makes sense. Our bodies know how to break down vitamin C and all these other vitamins and minerals that occur naturally in our environment. Makers of these cheap vitamins create them synthetically.

It’s a lot cheaper to create vitamin C in a lab as opposed to buying the raw materials (food), shipping them to your lab, extract the vitamins, create the pill, running test to make sure they are of high quality, and shipping them to your door.

That’s why you can go out and get a $5 per month multivitamin at your local store. Never mind that it is putting you in danger. Let’s all take up smoking and get it over with.

If you plan to take supplements, always go with the “all natural” products!

Now for the pregnancy part…I do not see a reason to not take a good all natural multivitamin and take a product that has resveratrol…after the pregnancy and breast feeding is done.

There has not been enough testing of resveratrol and the long term effects because it is new science. I do believe resveratrol is a great supplement to add to your daily regimen but I think it would be unwise to take during pregnancy.

The woman’s body is really different in the stages of pregnancy. There are so many changes that happen through this wonderful process that adding something in high doses might not do you good. It could have opposite results.

God built woman with the ability to birth and gave your body the tools to make sure your child will be the best it can be. You have all the tools to have a wonderful healthy child. This is a short time in your life.

Honestly 9 months plus another 6 months to a year for nursing is a short time in a 70 plus year lifespan. Adding something like resveratrol can be done later.

Of course, during pregnancy I would suggest taking a good “all natural” vitamin. This will help in so many ways and you can feel confident you are doing the best thing for yourself and more importantly…your child.

Do not take any supplements that are not all natural!!!

Remember that your eating decisions affect both you and your child.

Shaklee does have a resveratrol product that is very high in concentration and is in liquid form. I have tried it and it does a great job. Fill out the form below and I will share that information with you along with other really good all natural resveratrol products and updates as this new science changes.

Resveratrol Benefits

October 4th, 2008 by admin

The Resveratrol Benefits are being felt every day. For those who have never heard of Resveratrol, Resveratrol is a compound found naturally in various fruits, roots, and nuts. It is created as a safety mechanism to protect the plants it is found in. Scientist have been researching this compound for quite a while now and believe with the proper dose you can reverse the diseases associated with aging. Diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, and cancer take people at a very early age. Scientist believe taking a daily dose of Resveratrol you will start seeing the Resveratrol Benefits. That benefit is the reduction of these common age related diseases. I know some people may question, “Does this really work?” I can only give you my unscientific experiences. There has been over 2000 research studies on the Resveratrol benefits and the results of those experiments have lead many to agree this is the true fountain of youth. I would like to share just one of my many experiences with you now. The Resveratrol benefits were first introduced to me in the early part of August 2008 while on a trip to New Orleans. I listed to Dr. David Sinclair and many other health experts and why they truly believe this is a turning point in our health and wellness history. Sure…I had my doubts. Who wouldn’t. For these guys to come out and make the claims though did have me very intrigued. These well known scientist are putting their names on the line. That made me think that these guys honestly believe the research and I am willing to listen to these guys who have way more knowledge and experience in cellular health than myself. I bought two boxes of this stuff for my wife and I. The directions were to take just one teaspoon of this stuff every day. As soon as we got our boxes, we took a little sip. Of course we were estimating what a teaspoon was. It was a wild experience. The liquid is very thick and is purple in color. It is about the inconsistency of cough syrup. It has a very sour taste and finishes off very sweet. I could feel my taste buds coming to life. After taking it, I did not have an elevated heart rate or anything like that. It was kinda normal. I didn’t really feel much. Not until about 4 days later. We were flying back home and my son who is four years old was sitting in the plane next to me. The stewardess came by with drinks for my son and myself. I ordered and orange juice and my son ordered a water. I placed his water on the tray in front of him and went back to reading the magazine that was in my hands. My son was fidgeting around and kicked the tray with his foot. Needless to say I could see out of the corner of my eye, an almost full glass of water was no longer resting on the tray. It was being catapulted in the direction of the lady on the other side of my son. While sitting there looking at my magazine, I reached out with my left arm and secured the glass of water back to the tray. It was like something out of a movie. I did not expect it and I don’t think that would have happened had I not been taking the the Resveratrol product. The lady on the other side of my son commented that it was “A good catch.” I thought so too. I was completely amazed by my new found reactions. After four days, I started seeing the Resveratrol Benefits and was completely impressed. That day I made a promise to myself that I will never stop taking this product. It has proven it’s value to me. That is why I am so excited about the Resveratrol Benefits I am seeing and I hope you too can start to gain an appreciation of this wonderful new product. It will change your life! To find out more just visit this site. If you would like to read about one of my other amazing experiences check this out.

The Benefits of Resveratrol

September 28th, 2008 by admin

The benefits of resveratrol have really started to take focus over the past couple of years. This little compound called Resveratrol is helping scientist discover new ways to help our bodies during the aging process. It has been studied over 2000 times and each time it is studied new things are found about it’s ability to help our bodies at the cellular level.

There is only one problem with this little miracle compound… For you and I to get the real Benefits of Resveratrol which is commonly found in red wine, we have to drink 100 glasses of red wine every day! Thats a lot of wine and I don’t think my liver would hold up! Dr David Sinclair and a top notch team of scientists have discovered a way to take the most purist forms of Resveratrol and do a cold process that retains 98% efficacy. This way the Resveratrol is in its most potent form. Then they do what is call a Polyphenol blend. This makes the pure Resveratrol 10 times more potent. This gives us the same benefits of Resveratrol as the mice do in this video. Increased endurance for working out and helping to slow the aging process. I have started taking this stuff myself and I have to say it is truly amazing. The benefits of Resveratrol that I have seen so far is an increased awareness and faster reactions. I was able to avoid an auto accident with my increased awareness. I was driving down the road and I noticed a car streaking by out of the corner of my eye. It was a car to my right coming towards an intersection I was crossing. We had the green light but I could tell this car was not slowing down. I applied my breaks as I entered the intersection and the car passed right in front of me hitting the driver to my left that did not slow down. If I had not noticed that car barreling down, I would have been the one that was hit. I will share my faster reaction story on my next post.
